1. About KittyRescue Wellington
KittyRescue Wellington is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit group operating in the Wellington region of New Zealand. We are not a registered charity under the Charities Act 2005. Contributions made through this website are not tax-deductible.
2. Donations & Sponsorships
2.1 General donations
All donations are voluntary and non-refundable unless KittyRescue Wellington determines at its sole discretion that a refund is appropriate. By donating, you acknowledge that funds may be applied to any aspect of our cat welfare operations, including but not limited to: food, veterinary care, trapping equipment, transport, colony management, and general operating costs.
2.2 Redirection of funds
Funds received — including donations earmarked for specific cats, sponsorships, naming fees, and lock fees — may be redirected to any area of our cat welfare operations at the discretion of KittyRescue Wellington administrators. We will always make every effort to honour the spirit of your contribution, but we cannot guarantee that your donation will be spent exclusively on the cat or purpose you selected.
2.3 Cat sponsorships — best effort basis
Sponsoring a specific cat (including feeding, veterinary, or full-care packages) is accepted on a best effort basis only. Cats may move, be rehomed, pass away, or leave our care at any time. If a sponsored cat is no longer in our care, we will endeavour to apply your sponsorship to another cat in need, but we cannot guarantee ongoing care of any individual animal or provide refunds in such circumstances.
2.4 No guarantee of outcome
KittyRescue Wellington does not guarantee any specific outcome for any cat, including survival, rehoming, socialisation, or continued presence in a particular location.
3. Cat Naming, Renaming & Name Locks
3.1 Cat renaming ($20)
For a fee of NZD $20, any user may rename any cat displayed on this website, subject to the restrictions below. The new name will be displayed publicly on the site. The renaming fee is non-refundable in all circumstances.
3.2 Name lock ($60)
For a fee of NZD $60, a user may lock a cat's current name to prevent others from renaming it via the public interface. The name lock fee is non-refundable. A name lock is subject to override or removal by KittyRescue Wellington administrators at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to the circumstances described in clause 3.3.
3.3 Unacceptable names & administrator override
Any cat rename — including those made after payment — may be reversed, removed, or overridden by any KittyRescue Wellington administrator at any time, without notice, and without refund, if the new name is deemed unacceptable. This includes, without limitation, names that are:
- Offensive, vulgar, abusive, or discriminatory
- Defamatory or harmful to any individual or organisation
- Misleading or impersonating a real person or entity
- Promotional or commercial in nature
- Contrary to the values and mission of KittyRescue Wellington
- Otherwise inappropriate as determined by an administrator
In the event a name is reversed, the cat will revert to its previous name or a name assigned by administrators. No refund will be issued.
3.4 Name display
By submitting a cat name, you grant KittyRescue Wellington an irrevocable, royalty-free licence to display that name on this website and associated materials. You confirm that the name does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe and/or PayPal. KittyRescue Wellington does not store your full card details. All transactions are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD). Payment processing fees may apply and are deducted from the total received by KittyRescue Wellington.
All payments are final and non-refundable unless KittyRescue Wellington expressly agrees to a refund in writing.
5. Privacy
Your use of this website is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using this site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described therein.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, KittyRescue Wellington, its volunteers, and administrators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of this website or any contribution made through it. This website is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.
7. Changes to These Terms
KittyRescue Wellington reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
8. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
